Tough trial, BIG grins. (Upd. : Wolseley grins)

In Holland fresh snow normally will change into a brownish porridge within hours. Not so during Sunday's 100 Miles from Amsterdam. The nearly a week old snow was covered with a fresh 4 inch layer. After three courses of italian prison foood served  in the icy surroundings of the 150 year old driving school the real event was about to start. From 20.01 hrs sharp 29 teams drove off to discover the arctic flatlands north of the city. The crispy white outbacks and handpainted villages welcomed the vintage caravan with open arms. Not a soul on the road except real cars roaring along the narrow country roads at 30-50 mph. Car nr. 1, an MG TB by the sweet yet tough ladies van Egmond & van Maanen. Followed by a most varied field of makes and characters. Many cars are both wellknown and well competed, but we like to mention a few oddballs like the Lancia Dilambda (family de Gast), the Amilcar 8C (Brouwers & Brouwers) and the Anzani engined GN trials car (Pittaway & Lucas) that was happily fishtailing the full route. Despite temperatures way below freezing point, 27 out of 29 cars finished in Amsterdam's 'Central Park' as from 01.46 in the morning. Winner like last time was the Austin Seven Special manned by van Zadelhof & Mijatovic. A nearly impossible to repeat event is etched in our memories. With many-many thanks to all parties that helped to make this possible and very special thanks to the guy who made also the impossible come true: Bart 'Via-Flaminia' Kleyn.
