This is what you call the real deal. A 1914 Talbot 4CB. 2 owners is 102 years time. The son of the current owner tells:
"Our 1914 Talbot Invincible 4CB was manufactured at the London factory of Clement Talbot Ltd, Barlby Road, Ladbroke Grove, London W10 in May just before the outbreak of World War One. It was a brand new model launched for the 1914 model-year. It has the 132nd engine in the 131st chassis. The model was known as the '15-20' and has a 12h.p. engine but it was fitted with a longer stroke giving it a rated h.p. of 15.8.
The car has had only two owners in it's 102 years. The man who bought her from new was a Brigadier-General Daniel Brady. He retired to Lismore in Co.Waterford in the South of Ireland in the twenties(we have the original Irish tax book dated 1927).
The Talbot was one of the few automobiles on the roads around Lismore at this time where the most common form of transport was pony and trap. My Uncle Ben who was a farmer in Lismore observed this impressive 'horseless carriage' with interest and when the car was put up for Auction in the late thirties my Uncle's dream of owning the car was realised when he purchased the Talbot 4CB for the princely sum of £5. The Talbot has been in our family ever since. His passion was for all things mechanical and he was very proud of the rare and magnificent vehicle. His interest was in engines and he was a great collector of farm machinery over a period of fifty years. He was approached many times to sell the Talbot but always declined.
As children we played in the car. Eventually the car was stored in a barn but my Uncle would turn the engine on a regular basis. He believed it was a rare car and that only a few of them were left in the world. Today we understand that there are only three or four of this model of Talbot in the Northern Hemisphere. Over the years people from all over the world visited my Uncle at his farm in Lismore in an effort to persuade him to sell the Car but he never wanted to part with this impressive machine. The car has spent most of its 102 years in the Irish county of Waterford, its Torpedo Bodywork was by the London branch of J.Rothschild Pere et Fils a business set up by the Earl of Shrewsbury to build the bodies for his Invincible Talbots. The Earl of Shrewbury was also Earl of Waterford. When My Uncle passed away my Mother inherited the car and with great reluctance we are now selling the Talbot. The car will be auctioned on Tuesday November the 15th 2016 in Castlecomer Co.Kilkenny Rep. of Ireland. All enquiries to [email protected]"
