44th Historic Winton Proceeds as a Competitor Only Event
Winton Motor Raceway, near Benalla, Victoria
Conducted by the Austin 7 Club Inc A0003290N with the assistance of the HMRAV
The 44th Historic Winton will run a scaled back version of the event for historic car and motorbike competitors on 22nd & 23rd May 2021 at Winton Motor Raceway.
“The Austin 7 Club will run a restricted event, under a Tier Three COVID Permit,” Organiser and Austin 7 Club President, Len Kerwood said.
He said that attendance will be limited to car and motor bike entrants, their pit crews and required officials.
At this stage, no public tickets will be available, and invitations to car clubs for displays will not be possible.
“We are saddened that our event will not take its usual shape, and have not made this decision lightly.
However, the costs involved in the strict COVID Safe compliance and the continually changing Government requirements, has led us to this decision.
“Our loyal supporters; the spectators, car and motorcycle clubs, sponsors, advertisers and trade vendors will be greatly missed, however the running of the scaled back event will continue to support historic motorsport and keep Historic Winton alive for future years.”
If COVID restrictions ease, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel for spectators.
“If eased restrictions are in place it may be possible to have spectators, but this will be determined in coming weeks,” Len said. “Announcements will be made on our website and on Facebook.”
