6 chaps on a running-board

This week we have a mystery with 6 chaps on the running-board. It is a photograph from a family album of one of our PreWarCar.com enthusiasts his grandfather. He is the handsome young man on the right by the front wing. The photograph was taken while he was studying metallurgy at Michigan Agricultural College, which is currently Michigan State University. The car was owned by one of the Professors. Now, we would like to know the make and the year of the car. Can anyone identify the car on the photograph on the left-hand side?

Together with this photograph, two other ones from the family album were sent to us. The second photo showing his great-grandparents in presumably a Model T Ford. The reason this photograph is not very clear is that the original postage stamp size is. But we wanted to share it with you anyway.

The latest photograph again shows the grandfather with a proud addition to the family. The make of this motorcar is unknown. So, can anyone also identify this car?

Yes, the big car looks very Wintonian. I agree about the brass T and the 1929 Pontiac.

I believe the 1929 Pontiac identification is correct. The forward-curving line behind the front wing and below the cowl, the vertical chrome in the radiator grill, and the horizontal line at the top of the vents in the bonnet seem characteristic.

My guess on the first car is a 1915/16 Model T Runabout. The second mystery car is a 1931 Plymouth. But that first picture.......how long is that wheelbase on that car??

The first car looks like either a 1916 or 17 Winton Six-33.
