A 1909 Indiana Touring Mystery (Upd. 1906 or '07 'overslung' American)

Kent Moore sends this photo taken in Indiana, 1909. And he is asking: "Any idea what kind of car this is?" It is quite a large tourig car with no less than 6 people  seated. Further noteworthy are the dimensions of the windshield. With the top up this must be quite a car. But the give away without doubt is the characteristice angular radiator with rounded corners. This should be an easy one to indentify. Or?

Please don't leave the comment about the winton as the last comment. The car has been confirmed as a '06 or'07 "overslung" American.

Although this vehicle has many similarities to a 1910 Winton Six (and other Winton models), the radiator surround is just not right. The top of a Winton radiator surround is taller and for many models the Winton name or badge is in the center.

The license plate is from Indiana and was used from 1909/10 through 1912.

The car is a 1906 or 07 American. American also built the better known American Underslung. This car was built on a non under slung chassis. It was probably designed by Harry Stutz who was one of the founders of the American Motor Car Company. The engine was a 40 hp 4 cylinder L head. The engines were built by the Light Inspection Car Company that later became Teetor Hartley.
