A Dining Room Columbia?

An automobile may appear to be an odd feature in a dining room but in fact it is in an Antique shop somewhere in Sydney, Australia. The automobile is a 1902 Columbia Electric Victoria Phaeton (click image for enlargement), reputed to have been sold new to a family in Sydney. It is left hand drive, which is at odds with Australia’s driving position on the right. This Columbia is in very original condition with only some wear on the seats. The hood looks like it may have been stored folded but has been torn on being opened at some time. The dash is quite straight forward with an ammeter and a speedo which looks like it can be disconnected from the driving sprocket on the front left wheel. Truly a fascinating piece of automobile history that would fit in anyone’s dining room. (photo’s George Seymour) (RB)
