A good start to Spring in Paris

French auction house Aguttes was founded in 1974 by Claude Aguttes. It was the first independent auction house in France. Nowadays the company is run by two of Claude’s daughters and is one of the largest auction houses in the country. In their upcoming Spring Sale, which takes place on the 21st of March, a total of 57 classic car lots are on offer. Among them a 1905 Demeester, a 1923 Zedel and a 1926 Derby Sport.

1905 Demeester - 8hp

Listed is this 1905 Demeester which has been in the same family since 1966. This rare Demeester has a 4-cylinder 1,104 cc engine but has not been driven for many years. It is not known how many examples are still in existence, but this particular one is in exceptional original condition, as can be seen in the pictures. This beautifully preserved French car is offered without reserve.

1923 Zedel Torpedo - 15 hp

A Torpedo-bodied car which is coming up for sale in Paris is this 1923 Zedel. It is a Type P with a big 15 hp engine. For a long time, the car has been used for weddings, but it has been stored in a dry place for the past ten years. Estimated at € 10,000 - 15,000, it would make a wonderful family car. Also, this PreWarCar is offered without reserve.

1926 Derby Sport - 9 hp

Always wanted to drive on the banked circuit at Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry? Then this is the car to bid on! It is a 1926 Derby Sport equipped with the Chapuis Dornier 1093 engine, renowned for its remarkable robustness and reliability. For many years this cycle-car was exhibited in the collection of Ricardo Manuel Barosa Saragga, in Portugal. “Since its purchase in September 2019, just over € 20,000 has been invested to get it back on the road, with new drums and brake linings, replacement of the wheel spokes, a custom-made tonneau cover and adaptation of the driver's seat for better accessibility”, is what the auctioneer tells us. The Derby comes with Belgian registration papers and is the ideal cycle-car to take part in the Vintage Revival of Montlhéry!

Other classic cars on offer in Paris

The PostWarClassic lots in the auction include a Peugeot 203 Cabriolet. Bought by the current owner in 1971 when he was still a student. Then there is also a beautiful Mille Miglia eligible Fiat 1100 ES Coupé by Pininfarina, a Matra Djet V sports car and a BMW 503 which was fully restored in 2021 and one of only 139 examples of this series.
