You might have already spotted them on PreWarCar.com or PostWarClassic.com - the extraordinary selection of Mille Miglia eligible cars. Also this year we will do a live report from this world-famous event which takes place from the 15th until the 18th of May 2019. So keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram!
BUT if you are already convinced and would like to tick this one of your bucketlist, we would like to do a suggestion. This PreWarCar is amongst many other rallies, races and concour events allowed to take part in the 1000 Mille Miglia.
The PreWar we would like to show you is a Fiat 1500 6C Berlinetta Superleggera. An aerodynamic touring car with a “closed front” and large side slits for the air intake to cool the engine. The body is entirely made from aluminium with the side and rear glass in Plexiglas - which was invented in America a few years before. The 1939 Berlinetta Superleggera was built on a Fiat 1500 B chassis (no. 1500B033688), which matches the engine (no. 1500B-034301). A 45 bhp, 1,493 ccs OHV straight six-cylinder engine, four-speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with wishbones and coil springs. The car has a solid rear axle with hydraulic shock absorbers, a stabilising cross bar and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.
The first owner of this Italian car, as stated on a Reale Automobile Circolo d’Italia document, is Franco Spotorno. A famous Mille Miglia driver. The current owner is the fourth owner of this rare Fiat. He recently had the car thoroughly restored to the highest standards, with over 3000 hours of work documented. As described in the auction catalogue “The only thing not restored is the original Milano plate! “
This “mini Alfa 6C” comes with registration and Italian plates. Mille Miglia eligible PreWarCars have the advantage of having a front position in the starting grid. Would you like to be a participant in the event yourself next year? As today the car is mechanically perfect! So this is your chance! What are you waiting for?
