A 'Monaco' Mystery? (Chénard & Walcker!)

Christian Philippsen from Monaco - a reputed concours jury member - sends this picture of a fine vintage tourer and adds:
"I am trying to identify the car on the attached picture.  Would you kindly publish it? Someone, somewhere, will know... I have no element of information. Thank you!"
Well that's not a lot to go on, so basically we have the photo, the photo and nothing but the photo showing a gentleman and his spouse(?) waiting till the chauffeur is ready to go. And sorry, just like you thought, the photo came from Monaco but was not shot in Monaco. The backdrop suggests it could be any urban environment in Western Europe or North America. Further, and this is primarily based on the elegant spoke wheels it could be something like Hispano Suiza or Delage, but no the radiator is too much rounded. It may be of help to look close and see that the car has no front breaks. Who will jump in and take the lead?

editor: so far there is some consensus about a Chenard & Walcker Torpedo ( 1919-1925..?)

Radiator, vents, 880 RAF wheels, battery box, brakes, pre-21 steering wheel =1919-20 C&W Type U - I have 1920. But smaller Type TT is possible. I have '20 Type U (Also '24 Turcat)

Its a Chenard et Walcker. Besides radiator the Battery box gives it away. Vents in bonnet side plates are also as per Chenard. Front wheel brakes were an Option on SV cars but standard on OHC models. car could be 1920 up to 1925 SV model of 3018cc. OHC cars are under 3 litres but with same bottom end as the SV cars and tripe spring fitted valves claiming 4000 rpm and 90BHP. I have 3 CW's being worked on.

This picture of a 1919 Chenard & Walcker clearly shows the distinctive crease in the radiator to help confirm identification.

...Definitively not Hispano. It seems a Type "U" or 3 liters Chenard&Walker.

The small dent in the radiator shell is a very important identification feature of a Chenard-Walcker. No front brakes still, so very early '20s.

Les "coups de hache" sur lr radiateur et l'allure générale font penser à un gros torpedo Chenard et Walcker des années 1925 (15 ou 16 Cv ?)
