About Quiz #383: Buick Master Six

Well, that was fun! Lots of good and better aswers coming in. One answer - though not correct - was quite interesting as it told us about a make of car we never heard of before: the CWS T-1 , which was the first car ever produced in Poland. According to Wikipedia some 500 were made between 1925 and 1932.
No the car depicted here - photographed near the entrance of the castle of Bran now better known as the home of Count Dracula... -  was produced in much larger numbers. All other senders agreed on Buick so we presume they are right. Most jurymembers agreed on Buick Master Six. So like quizes similar to this one in the past we had to go into the details.  And honestly we were quite glad to have solid support from long time jury member Kit Foster who graciously admitted his own guess was not perfect. "Goddess on 1927s, Motometers on earlier cars for example". It was decided that Ace Zenek was best on details and also on giving fundament to his guess. We are looking at a 7 passenger variety of the car - the lady in the middle almost 100% certain seated in the jump seat - which made the choice a lot easier.
Ace, please send us your mail address and T-shirt size.  See you all next week! This weekend you can test yourself on a seemingly easy PostWar Puzzle. It's not!

In Britain the CWS ( Cooperative Wholesale Society, Co-op for short) sold groceries and other foods. It also produced cars but under the brand name 'Bell' at its works in Tyseley, Birmingham. (Source Georgano).

The Buick Master Touring 1927 -49, was not produced in USA, they were produced in Canada, you can see it on the chassis number, they have six figures and not seven. Many of these cars were transported to Copenhagen in wooden boxes as parts, and was assembled there at General motor Copenhagen, and exported around to countries in Europe.
In Flint, MI in USA I have got information that they make only one such car in 1927, rest of them was made in Canada.

I do not believe it is a 1927 Buick because all open Buicks came with a one-piece windshield starting in 1927. Both George Dammann and Automobile Quarterly mention this in their Buick books. The 1926 and earlier open Buicks had a horizontally split windshield.

The only standard Buick model with wire wheels that I saw while researching my contest submission was the 25-X49. Dammann even states, "The car featured standard wire wheels with sidemount and a built-in trunk rack" (page 92). I noticed that the Standard Catalog does not list the export models individually or the non-export version Model 25-49.

Dammann's book states that the 1927 open Buicks had a one piece windshield. The only regular production Buick shown with wire wheels before then, that I could find, was the 1925 Model 25-X49.

The authors of the Standard Catalog may not have realized that this model existed. If it was a standard feature of only this model then the Standard Catalog is correct (since it was not an option on any other model in 1925).
