Before we publish an about what is it quiz we don`t know it if is a difficult one or an easy one. Of course, sometimes we have an idea, but as the average PreWarCar.com reader is very knowledgeable it is sometimes difficult to predict. Which was also the case this week. Maybe it were the photographs, maybe it had something to do with the hints we gave, or maybe it is the car itself. As there were (only) three people who commented and gave an answer…
Let me first tell you the make of the car. The pre-war in the photograph is indeed a Hillman as Anders Svenfelt and Fried Stol said. Unfortunately, none of them is correct with the year. Although one of them is very close.
This two-seater 1921 car is an example of a Hillman Coventry P-type. The car has an early 4 cylinder (63x120) monobloc engine with 10 hp which was also used in the pre World War 1 car production. Her reg is BY3898, and the original colours of the car were grey and black.

The owner of the car James would like to know more about the car, as he recently acquired this rare example. In his search he found a few pre World War 1 models, but not another one like this. He found one other pre World War 1 model in Tasmania with the same engine and another with a different engine but no other post World War 1 cars.
Maybe one of you is able to tell us more now we told you the car is a 1921 Hillman Coventry P-type. We are also very interested to know if there are any other 20s examples or P-types still around.
Now over to the winner. As no one gave the correct answer, we decided to let the person win who gave the most correct answer. Congratulations Anders you receive the full 5 points, as you correctly told us about the Hillman and the 10 hp. The only thing is that you said it is 1920, but in fact, the car is from 1921. Gerd we add one point to your account for participating and Fried you receive 3 points as you correctly said the car is a Hillman.
Adding all the points, this is the current top 3 of the six-month competion, sponsored by Hans Compter Rare Cars:
1st place: Gerd Klioba with 19 points
2nd place: Frits Hegemann with 17 points
3rd place: Fried Stol with 16 points
Have a good weekend everyone!
