L'histoire de Lagonda a débuté en 1901 à Staines, une petite ville du Royaume-Uni. C'est vers 1935 que la marque a connu ses plus grands succès. À cette époque, l'entreprise a engagé une écurie privée aux « 24 Heures du Mans » et y a remporté au moins des victoires sportives. L'essor économique espéré ne s'est toutefois pas concrétisé.
