Aircraft or Automobile?

What could be mistaken for the controls of a small vintage aircraft is actually the dashboard of one of America's greatest automobiles. Pierce-Arrow would not have made it in today's corporate world. Never were efficiency and cost savings ever mentioned at one of the board meetings of the Buffalo New York company. This dash board is from a 38hp, the economy model! The other two models offered were a 48 hp and a 66 hp (the car with the largest engine ever in a production car). All Pierce Arrows of this time featured six cylinder T-head motors and bodies made entirely of cast aluminum! The car pictured here (click) is owned by John Walsh of Massachusetts and the group photo shows the car with two model 48s. The red one a 1918 also owned by Mr. Walsh and the green one a 1915 (perhaps the best looking Pierce ever) owned by the man who restored both cars Howard Lane. (text and photos Evan Ide)
