Alfa Romeo twins (UPDATE: 6C 1750 Brianza ! )

The caption on this picture tells us it is the 1932 Concours d'élégance in  Bois de Boulogne. The two ladies could easily be twins, but are named as Marie Costes and Mme de Beaufort and we wonder just what connection they had with Alfa Romeo? Did they know this model 8c 2300 won the Monaco Grand Prix and the Targa Florio driven by Nuvolari? If they didn't know that great driver, perhaps they knew Raymond Sommer or Luigi Chinetti who won the 1932 Le mans 24 hour race in one? All eyes are on the ladies in their matching outfits and we hope someone may know more about them or the car, which we hope we have identified correctly!

UPDATE by editor - Eagle-eyed readers quickly identified this car as a 6c 1750 ( smaller brake drums) and we trust they will help decide the name of the coachbuilder. Zagato? Touring? Or by Brianza?

Coachbuilder is Brianza. Chassis number is 6C10814386. Owner was Arturo Ferrarin. This car was traded or sold back to Alfa Romeo during 1933 and then sold to a dealer in London. It exists today but had lost its "Brianza" identity. It is possible that the body was refreshed by Zagato before it went to England?

sorry; that message went too soon and I lost the link to Zagato's current website claiming that he set up a new factory in Brianza in 1932 not that he worked for Carozeria Brianza. see http://www.zagato.it/en/timeline/

Are you sure that Brianza doesn't simply refer to Zagato's new factory ? see http://oldtimerarchiv.com/ugo-zagato-master-of-light/

Badge looks like Brianza Brianza took over Zagato in 1932 and used square panel louvres on the skuttle. like Touring! Angrla cherretts book on 6c shows a Brianza bodied car with curved top windscreen.

I have only seen one Brianza bodied Alfa, and will send you a couple of pics separately, of the badge.

I suspect the body is a Brianza. Very zagato-like!

Actually I'm not convinced it's a Zagato body - the badge at the bottom of the door doesn't look like a Zagato one, and also the wings have a raised beaded edge which isn't typical of Zagato coachwork. Also the top of the windscreen is curved and they are normally straight...

I suspect it's a 6C 1750 - the brake drums are too small for an 8C...

The size of the brakedrums makes me think it is a 6C1750, and the window frame is typical of the Zagato bodied versions of this chassis.
