All-white and with floating power

By this time you won’t have missed that 2019 has been a particularly special year for Citroën. After all, they started building cars in 1919, so it may be no surprise that the French motor manufacturer has come up with some lovely images from their files to give the celebrations a bit of heritage splendour.

We liked this one in particular. Supposedly taken in 1932, the photograph (original size scan below) shows a C6, which had been launched four years earlier as Citroën’s first six-cylinder car. Looking to go more upmarket and to come up with a competitor to Renault’s Vivasix, the C6 was the most luxurious model available at the time. By 1932 the C6 G was available with ‘floating power’ engine – a license for a vibration-free engine bought from Chrysler but further developed by French engineers.

We wouldn’t be surprised to learn that this very luxurious car came with that. It was certainly also very fashionable with just about everything possible in white, even up to the tyres. The coachbuilder? We would love to hear from you.

Citroëns first 6-cylinder car was the monasix from 1928. Unfortunately I don’t know the coachbilder of this nice C6.
