Only 12 days to go! On the 9th,10th and 11th of March Amelia Island 2018 Concours d'Elegance will be held in Florida. Already the 23rd edition of this amazing event! The places to be during the second week of March are The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island and the Golf Club of Amelia Island. Also this year, it looks like it will be spectacular!
The most beautifully restored (rare) cars from all over the world, groomed to perfection. So shiny, like you have never seen before! This weekend it is all about that one car, with any traces of use, prepared to perfection in which every little detail counts. Photographs from last year you find here.
Last year a 1939 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Lungo Spider won in the category Best in Show, Concours de Sport. The Best in Show, Concours d'Elegance car was awarded to the 1935 Duesenberg SJ-582 from Terence Adderley. Now, of course, is the big question; which cars will this year be the Best in Show?

But these above mentioned are not the only prizes, also various Amelia awards and multiple Corporate Awards will be granted.
Leading up to the event the organization already announced "The Amelia star" a famous and rare pre-war. A 1935 MG PA/PB also known as "Leonidis".

This year, the M.G. Car Company Limited celebrates its 90th birthday. Therefore, special attention for this British brand. Which started off with re-bodied Morris models. When later, Cecil Kimber, the driving force behind the company in Oxford developed sports cars which we can now call legends. Mark Becker, Vice-Chairman of the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance explained; "MG is practically the founding marque of American sports car racing. Their precepts of lightweight construction and compactness that set the course of modern sports car design began with prewar MGs". Earlier on PreWarCar.com, we published an article in our magazine about Kimber's last MG.
But there is, of course, a lot more to see on Amelia Island! Including, a large collection of rare Auburn classics which will be honored and will be presented on the show field.
Also this year, Hagerty Youth Judging will be part of the appreciation. This programme will provide the opportunity for children between the age of 7 and 14 to learn about various classic cars by as the name already explains, judging. We think this is a very good way to get youngsters involved in the classic car world. But also to pass on knowledge from generation to generation.
If you don`t have any plans during the second week of March and have the possibility. We highly recommend this amazing event!
