Not really an Amilcar mystery

David Jackson sent us some vintage pictures of his late father with friends in an Amilcar and he would like to know the model and year.
The pictures are postcards by now and look amazing.
David said "There are two men and one woman, the man who never gets to sit behind the wheel is my father,  W. Montgomery Jackson.  The names of the other two are unknown to me. I think the other man must have actually owned the car.
It would be fun to know more if you can find it out.  I don't know when these photos were taken.  My father was born in 1908 and would have graduated from college in 1930 however I would guess that these photos were taken before then."

Editor: when you check Gilles Fournier's standard work on Amilcar you will conclude that we are looking at a 1924/1926 Amilcar CGS3 with the sporty option of an Eldridge style radiator cowl. Still we were puzzled by the bonnet. The louvres missing where the leather bonnet strap is coming down... we know this from the other side of the car. Not as much for this side. Anyway, we are sure one or two Amilcarists will jump in to explain.

I attempted to send a shot of a 1919 Belsize 15/20 HP Open Tourer, but ya'll Brits wouldn't pass it through customs!
I suspect I'll be hearing a knock on the door from the CIA! Have a good day!.......Chuck

Hi Chuck, your Belsize landed alright. By the way you are communicating with a cold beer drinking chap. PreWarCar's world head quarters are located in Amsterdam, Holland. See you at Herhey two weeks from now ?

cheers Joris

Nothing earth shaking, just a Yank, Texan, dual citizenship US- Ex-Pat. Canadian ex Aerospace and Energy, retired, looking for email contacts who have a sense of humor. Don't let y'all's "strange" differences ie drinking warm beer, driving on the wrong side of y'all's roads and talking, y'all, funny stop you from answering and saying, "Howdeee".........Chuck

This style of body was fitted to 1925/1926 cars. I think that this is more likely to be a 1926 car, because it had an Eldridge cowl fitted.
Re the bonnet louvres it is unusual to see the the lack of louvres on the offside where the bonnet strap fits. Some cars had the bonnet split in two along its length, allowing the section covering the petrol tank next to the scuttle, to be opened separately for re fuelling.
This join was often covered by the bonnet strap.

The registration number rules out a UK car, also the occupants look too well to be from Britain. Could the number be Dutch ? The bonnet looks correct to me, and I agree with a CGS3.
