Peter Zobian from California writes: "Recently I purchased this 1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom 1. It's either a very old restoration or it is a well preserved car - or as some are calling this type of car, an "oily rag". It is a Springfield Rolls with a convertible coupe body by Brewster. When I got the car, it had some minor wiring issues, but these were easily fixed and it runs and drives quite nicely. I think I'll keep it pretty much the way it is - I like its aged patina, especially in this world of over restored cars. I will probably have a new top fitted as I need to replace the wooden front top bow, and the current top is vinyl. I think I'll fit a cloth top, and probably in light grey to compliment the car's color. This is my first Rolls-Royce and it's huge. 146 1/2 inch wheelbase, especially considering it only seats two persons in the car and two persons in the rumble seat."
editor: well Peter, from a Californian perspective this may be an 'oily rag', in European eyes this is a 'matured restoration' ;-) . Let's ask the worldwide readers for their opinion.
