Mathieu Gras is not related with this small French make. But he wouldn't be a real proud Frenchman if he didn't have the dream that he did. Mathieu writes us: "Only few Jean Gras cars were produced during the twenties (they did not survive the 1929 crisis). Nowadays only 3 Jean Gras cars are still existing: one 8hp Torpedo (green see the pictures) with a 1200 cm3 CIME engine. One 10HP Torpedo with a CIME 1600cm3 ( in Le Musée de l'Automobile Henri Malartre in perfect state) and one 6-cylinder chassis (A9D type) without motor and gearbox. The car was produced in the Paris suburb Issy'-les-Moulineaux nearby the factory of "Avions Voisins". One race car model was constructed with a compressor Cozette, the motor was a CIME 10cv (1500 cm3) the chassis was a short wheel base version of the "10cv Jean GRAS". In case you are the unlikely owner of Gras # 4 please e-mail to Mathieu. (poster & photos collection Mathieu Gras; here a radiator detail)
