Recently Paul Giannuzzi bought a 1913 Luxior, an obscure French make, built by Berthaud et Moreau. Unfortunately not much is known about this car. Apart from a faded English advert of a 1914 rolling chassis and a postcard image of a 1912 model, Paul has not been able to find more. His 1913 Luxior is desperately in need of a total restoration and many parts are still missing: the wire wheel centre nuts/spinners; the springs and the steering link from drop arm to steering arm. With the car came a Ballot two litre engine, but this is different from the one in the advert. The make of the gearbox is unknown. Could this also be a Ballot? And are engine and gearbox correct for the 1913 Luxior? Paul would very much like to contact other Luxior owners to have a look at their cars for reference. That is, if there are any other Luxiors…? Contact us, we’ll be glad to intermediate. (RB)
UPDATE: French car historian Fons Alkemade knows several sources in which the Luxior is mentioned: the ‘Guide de l'automobile française’ by J. Rousseau; the contemporary magazine Omnia volume 7 semestre 2, pag. 345, Omnia vol. 8 sem. 2, pag. 726 and ‘La revue de l'automobile’, vol. 5, supplement Auto-Revue, pag. XXI.
