At the local dealer (UPDATE: more signs)

Many people think that every Rolls Royce in India is a Maharaja Rolls. Not so. Take for instance this Rolls Royce outside an Overland dealership. That it’s not a Maharaja Rolls can be seen from the regular number plate that is black with white lettering. The rulers of the Princely States had red plates with white or silver lettering, with the name of the state in full and of course a low serial number. The picture could have been taken in the countryside as there are turbaned people around. The Rolls has Stephen Grebel headlights and we think the Overland dealership board would also be quite valuable today. By the way, apart from Rolls Royces there were also lots of Overlands in India but their survival rate in India is low, very low. (photo Harit) (RB)
UPDATE: Bas de Voogd says that the BOC petrol sign, Burmah Oil Company, is worth a couple of Euros too!
