Back on the grid: the fantastic Longstone Light Car Race in pictures

'Oh what fun', 'fantastic race', 'fantastic event', 'grin from ear to ear', 'just what the VSCC needs', 'more sublime cars on the track', 'hopefully it will happen again', 'sensible responsible adults having fun', 'everyone walked along the track to watch and everyone had a smile! Spectators and drivers.....'.

Just some reactions from participants and visitors about the return of Light Car Racing, organised by the VSCC and sponsored by odd-car enthusiasts of Longstone tyres. This fantastic event took place last weekend and those who attended saw not only happy people but also a great variety of cars. The rules were strict: only 1930 and older, less than 1500 cc, less than 30 hp, and in standard form. The race was a serious, neck-and-neck affair between a Salmson and a Morgan that was won by the 1922 Salmson AL22, which clocked an impressive average time of 48.08 mph! Verstappen, beat that!

We hope Dougal and his team can continue to provide a top-notch grid of fantastic cars that you won't see at other races. Enjoy the photos.

The Longstone Light Car race was well worth renewing my race licence for, and I agree that the shared drives doubled the fun.

I have been plotting a proper return to racing since Saturday, the VSCC is perfect for having a good family weekend at the track without a load of wannabe touring car drivers aiming for your body work, I just wish I had found it sooner!

Lots of double drives added to extra comedy. Great to see the VSCC putting a smile on so many faces.

It was an utterly fantastic event.

It is worth noting that the VSCC run a series of fantastic events. all of which are worth visiting. We have the Mallory Park meeting soon that will have an edwardian race.

For the record, the 48.08mph was an average lap speed not a maximum speed!!
