Last Saturday the yearly Concours d’Elegance in Schwetzingen, Germany started with a few drops of rain but fortunately the rest of the day was bright and sunny. Every year organiser Johannes Hübner (AVD) and his staff succeed in bringing together a wonderful collection of the most beautiful automobiles. But to us the star of the show was Brutus, a real Monster entered by the Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim. Brutus is based on a chain driven 1908 LaFrance chassis mated to an 46,93 litre....! BMW Aero-engine, that was produced from the WW I years to approximately 1924(click picture for detail). Every now and then this enormous engine was fired into life, producing a sound (and clouds of smoke ) that brought spectators from all parts of the Castle gardens to watch.
