Bronze at speed.

Michael Ulrich from Germany has a passionate love for vintage cars and maybe because of that he became a sculptor. He not only restored the fragile remnants of an early Amilcar voiturette racer, at the same time he started to play with clay and made his first model. He became so well educated in doing so that he was invited by Michel Marteling of the French Cercle Pégase (club Amilcar de France) to fabricate a small bronze. Michaels talent is to create an atmosphere of speed in his art (click the photo for another angle). This is not only a matter artistry but foremost a matter of labour. To check this, just see the basic design . The cornering Bugatti 57 S Atalante with closed wheels was ordered by Bugatti SAS Molsheim (Bugatti-cars.de) to be the Pebble Beach 2003 Award (Classics.com). Michael Ulrich now is working on a second series version with open wheels. It will be presented at next Rétromobile, Paris in February (bronze and photo M. Ulrich; click for his complete portfolio).
