Charles Harbord's Readers Magazine. (UPDATE)

What makes a far from glossy black & white magazine start & run as fine as a vintage Roller? It may be clear that this has nothing to do with sophisticated marketing tools, massive budgets or any of that. When layout and pictures are the coachwork and paintjob of a magazine, the words are the petrol. No words, no go. 'Cars for the Connoisseur' 'Written by Connoisseurs for Connoisseurs' is rich with words. Not from 'green' editors but from the people who know and lived their lives near the cars they write about. People like Diana Barnato Walker, Colin Crabbe, Dan Margulies, Nick Mason (and all those others illustruous; see 'Read More' for a complete listing). The only two years young magazine (just like us ;-) is run by Charles Harbord and he decided to send a free copy of the 2001-2003 Index (click to e-mail your request) to all who might be interested to see what this insiders magazine is about. The August issue will contain a story about the famous Hispano with tulip wood coachwork and a SS 100 Jaguar that recently was discovered under rather strange circumstances. UPDATE: we received several questions -first by John McKiernan- about the earlier mentioned '1905 Silver Ghost' which is an impossibility as the Ghost was introduced in 1907. What we didn't were aware of is that Charles Harbord already had issued a correction in the June issue about this photo saying: 'The car is a Rolls Royce 1905 4-cylinder 20 hp model ...(-)...at an event organised by the Ghost Club - hence confusion. Jack Sears tells me that his father Stanley had acquired the car in a derelict state and the body is a replica of the Hon. Charles Rolls' Tourist Trophy winning car.' Andre Blaize (the Ghost Club International )ads to that: "It's a a "Light Twenty" of 1905 (chassis #26350) it was restored from two different chassis using mainly parts from #26350."
