Charlotte’s breakdown

This is Charlotte. A real Dutch girl from the twenties. Modern, emancipated and she just loves to dance. Unfortunately, on her way home from the dancehall her little roadster breaks downs with a flat tire. But Charlotte is also a sensible girl. In her car she carries a yellow signal flag which she got from the American Petroleum Company. In case of an emergency she only has to wave this little pennant and lo and behold, a service van of the APC stops. In no time the gallant driver of this fully equipped van repairs her flat. For free, just because Charlotte uses APC motor spirit in her roadster. What a nice service! (with thanks to Esso Historic Archives) (RB)
