If we have ever seen a 'wannahave' car this is the one! It's the 1928 Alvis 1.5 Litre Works Team Car that was driven by Sammy Davis and Bill Urquhart-Dykes in the 1928 edition of the Le Mans 24 hours. Alvis entered two of their new front-wheel-drive cars and they did well, considering the opposition of the big Bentley's. Number 27 with Maj. Maurice Harvey and Harold Purdy at the wheel finished in sixth place overall and Sammy and Bill with number 28 came in at place 9. The reason we're telling you this is that this very Alvis #28 still looks today like it's ready to go racing again. And maybe you could be the one to do it, as it will be offered by Coys on March 6th. Coys didn't give us an estimate but as with all 'wannahaves', we expect a hefty price tag. By the way, do we know what happened to # 27? Does that one still exist?
