But don’t if you’re afraid of getting your hands dirty! Vauxhall’s 30/98 don’t frequently turn up for sale, but if they do there’re gone very quickly! And this one will, because it’s a rather special one. It was one of very few Vauxhalls campaigned at the Brooklands, where it competed successfully between 1933 and 1935 in the hands of a Dr. Bobby Beaver. He progressively developed the car: lightening it, improving its brakes and performance. On one particular occasion he even tried supercharging, though this proved ineffective. The 30/98 was thought to have vanished during the war years, instead it turned up in the USA and was bought by Richard Bull in 1963. Mr. Bull intended to restore the car but never got ‘round to it and the sad Vauxhall sat under a tarpaulin outside his home until his death last year. Now it is to be auctioned by Bonhams during the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance on June 6th. Look for their great white tent, but beware of oily hands!

Obviously Vauxhall picked the parts fairly randomly from their stores.
