Covered in Snow ? (UPDATE II: rare Century?)

Somehow - when you are not born or raised in Alaska - you think of Alaska as one big white plain covered in snow eternally. We realized this is a one-sided view when Bob Apalsch from Fairbanks (better known locally as Banjo-Bob) mailed this image of lush greenery hiding a 1939 Buick. The car is sitting somewhere north of Fairbanks between Fish Creek Road and Fairbanks Creek Road, but somehow we don’t think you should bother to go looking for it. According to Bob it’s quite far gone and nothing is left of the interior, only the dash. Still, if you’re determined to go, here’s a map. But don’t wait too long, or you’ll have to bring your dogs!

Update II by Hugh Nutting: "1939 was the first year for this B size Fisher body. It continued in 1940 and was used for large Pontiacs, 70 series Olds, Buicks, LaSalles and 61 series Cadillacs. It came in 2 and 4 dr sedans, coupes, converts, and was the cowl/platform for the first Buick Estate (woodie) in 1940. Many of the Buick Centuries had the dual carb option."
Update I by Allan B. Lewis: "This appears to be a '39 Century 61 series sedan. Only about 18,000 were made while there were about 141,000 smaller engined Specials. The Century used the larger 320.2 cubic inch engine with the GM standard body. The special 248 cu in. The Century was so named in '36 because it was the first mass produced 100 mph car. Therefore it may be worth another look."
