“Here are some photos of my 35 Auburn Speedster when I bought it in June 1996,” writes Candy Paulino from Seattle, Washington State. “Here it is on the trailer in South Dakota, heading for Seattle. Chassis totally stripped down by myself, and started from the ground up. I even knocked out all the rubber bushings, and replaced them on the chassis. No wonder it has taken so long to get her back on the road. If someone would have told me it would be 14 years into restoring it before I got to drive it for the first time ( June of 2010), I know I would have starting CRYING.
When I needed parts I came into contact with Felix De Geyter, who knew about the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg warehouse in Oklahoma. The warehouse needed a complete inventory, so I decided to fly down and help sorting out the parts. And yes, I am a girl through and through. I about died when I put my hand in that bin (click main picture). But I wanted to find the correct headlamp reflectors for my car. I almost cried here too! I will do just about anything to get my Auburn done!”
How the inventory was done is a very interesting, but long story. We'll save that until next Sunday!
