Getting ready for the weekend

It's Friday! Time to get ready for the weekend — just like the young lady in this picture. Do you think she would actually drive somewhere? We doubt it. But if she did, where would she go in this cyclecar? Can anyone tell us more about the vehicle?

We would also like to hear where you are taking your (cycle)car this weekend. Please comment below.

The little vehicle is indoors and looks like it is posed in a photographers studio for family photos - probably quite light to move around without the batteries and a better end-of-life solution for an ' electric' where perhaps the batteries have become too old to be useful....

You ask where I will be taking my Viglione cyclecar this weekend. NOWHERE!!!!! We here in Victoria Australia are locked down and can only travel within a 5 km. radius of our home and then only for essential shopping. As you can see there is no space available for the shopping!

Five mile radius? that's a long day out in a cycle car, including break-downs.

The photo shows a small electric car made in the early 1920s by Slaby-Beringer (SB) in Berlin. Approx. 2,000 were made until the company went bust in 1924 - a few hundreds were sold with two-stroke engines by DKW (a minority shareholder of the company). This car is yet another example for the many German "Sonderwege" in the automotive sector during the interwar period that proved to be dead ends. Still, the young lady is simply stunning!
