Gwenda Hawkes flying 'The Jappic'
You may remember Adrian Ward who is rebuilding the fabulous Jappic. What we didn't know is that superfast lady Gwenda Hawkes (Stewart) drove the low flying rocket as well : "The photo was given to me by Gwenda when I visited her in Greece in 1976. On the reverse is written, I think in Gwenda's own hand, : 'G.M.S. breaking records 50kms to 100 miles H.S. Jap 350cc (Jappic) June 1929 Montlhéry'. The recreation project is coming on well and hope to have at least a rolling chassis done for the Festival of Slowth, the cycle car gathering in May." Adrian, with all respect, is it fair to compete with your Jappic in the Festival of Slowth? Talking about that festival, what's this year's secret location?

Gwenda Hawkes bought the Jappic from HM Walters in 1928 and relocated the car to Monthlerey and used it to break a number of records in 28 and 29 until it was destroyed in a garage fire in the early 30's ,
That picture was recently sent to me by a Morgan Historian who went to visit Gwenda in the 70's I think
