Hanomag identity issues.

Jeroen van Bommel has found in Portugal a 6 cylinder Hanomag Sturm (made from 1934 to 1939). Well to be more exact: zero cylinders, as the engine is missing. Also missing: the papers of the car that originally was registered in Portugal as AD-51-83. But now it is getting worse. It is impossible to retrieve this registration in Portugal. So now Jeroen is studying other ways to get the car licensed. One option, which does not seem very safe to us, is to find the paperwork of another Sturm or from a Hanomag Rekord or if absolutely unavailable, the papers of a Opel Super Six. Any suggestions out there? You can contact Jeroen van Bommel through his advert.

The Portugese Government are absolute so and so's. The deliberately ignore EU rules and charge import duty on all cars. The EU fine them about 25 million Euros a year for doing it but they collect about 250 million euros in duty! You could try registering it in Madeira and then you can drive it portugal.

Here in Thailand they restore cars, but they can't always afford the parts needed from abroad, so vehicles often end up woth Nissan / Toyota engines, since they are the most popular and easily maintained.
So do what you have to, to keep this car on the road, and after all it adds to the "Provenance" of the vehicle.

walking away is not always the way, many cars have been restored from this condition even when the value is low, it could be made into a nice usable car even if it has a modern type engine in it

Without wishing to be rude or disparaging I would suggest that he walks away and finds something less rusty and more complete!
