People literally send us stories and photographs from all over the world. The following message came from Adelaide, Australia. Which once again shows how good the world-wide-web works.
Terry Parker wrote: ''Hi, The excellent article and photo of the Hotchkiss landaulette reminded me that there is one in the shed (a Hotchkiss 1910 model Z).'' Which made us wonder, how can you forget what is in your shed?! But the story continued... '' This car was ordered in 1909 by W.P.Stuart, from Cumberoona Station in Australia's south-east. He was in England and called in at the London and Parisian Motor Company in Oxford Street. The 1910 'Z' handbook had not been printed so he was given one of the 1909 models. Which were similar in many details. The car eventually had its rear body removed to make way for a tray, the fate of many bodies in Australia.''
''Finally, the car arrived on the SS Kent in 1910 and went to a local body builder, F T Hack. It took nearly the year before the car was on the road. After that, it was entered in a 1935 rally here, but ran a bearing, and was returned to the Station. Where the Hotchkiss remained until the 1960's. Remarkably the import and body invoices remain with the car, seen here with its stablemate, a 1913 Straker Squire.''
Thank you, Terry, for sharing this lovely story about your car. Wonderful to have all the old documentation with the car. We hope that you keep using the Hotchkiss regularly and do not forget that there is one in your shed!
