Hupmobile participant of the 1912 Tour de France? (driver: Savene)

Patrick Daniell send this fine picture of a Model 20 Hupmobile. On the reverse of the old photo, in careful ink handwriting is written: 26:2:12 Tour de France - Voiture Hupmobile 12/14 hp-4 cyl" / photo M. Rol, Paris .

So we understand the photo was taken 26 February 1912 during Tour de France (was it a winter event??). The Tour de France Automobile was first organised in 1899 as a regularity event starting and finishing in Paris. After 1908 the event changed more into a pleasant tour (wikipedia) under the guidance of the magazine l'Auto. Maybe one of you has the back issues to find out more about car and driver(s)?  Patrick Daniell would love to hear from you. He made nearly the same photo during this year's Circuit des Ardennes. The driver seems to have aged not too much in 99 years, sorry to disappoint you, it is Patrick's co-driver, Tony Mayes.

The name of the driver was Savene (or perhaps Savène or Savené)
The original glass negative of the photo is stored in the French National Library [see http://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b6919108k], together with pictures of other participants in the 1912 Tour de France [see http://gallica.bnf.fr/Search?ArianeWireIndex=index&p=1&lang=FR&f_typedoc=images&q=+Tour+de+France+automobile]
