"I really hope to get to the bottom of the myth"

We received a very enthusiastic message from Henning, who lives in the southern part of Denmark. He wrote, "I would like to thank you all at PreWarCar for your excellent website, outstanding!!" It is always good to hear from readers and/or users from PreWarCar.com and PostWarClassic.com they are thankful for us being there on the world wide web!

Henning told us also he is currently restoring his 1935 Rolls Royce 20/25. "I have been thinking for quite some time if it was possible to track down relatives of the first owners of the car, they were all sailors, Admirals, majors and so on. The roomer says that one of them was participating in the sinking of the German battleship Bismarck, quite a nice story (if true). I think it’s an aspect in restoring a vintage car/motorcycle, to get the story right back to the beginning, if possible, and before it’s too late. My Rolls Royce 20/25, started life in 1936 under registration number CKO 638. On the attached file, you can see all the previous owners. The Rolls came to Denmark in 1973, where it was very badly restored. I bought the car in 1999. Since then I have done a complete nut and bolt restorations. I’m an aircraft mechanic in the Royal Air force, so I’m pretty much on safe land regarding the mechanical. But it was a real challenge to do all the woodwork, very interesting. If someone else needs advice or help with a similar car, I’m more than willing to help, I have tons of photos. I believe to have faced nearly every single problem such a project can offer…"

Relatives of the first owners

So we are trying to find relatives of the first owners of the Rolls Royce 20/25 and hope to get to the bottom of the myth. Henning finished the message with; "I really hope that one day to be able to send an email to a relative, to let them know that their grand (grand) dads' old car is still alive and kicking, imagine if we got such a mail one day!!"

We totally agree with him that it would be wonderful to send out such an e-mail. Therefore you understand we are more than willing to help Henning find the relatives, but this is of course only possible with your help! In the photographs, you see the car in question. After spending (until this moment) 4000 hours on the restoration, the Rolls is currently at the paint shop. We are very much looking forward to seeing the final result!
