Retromobile, Paris. In many visitors opinion the title 'Best of Show' was not for one of the 'glitz and glamour models' displayed by renowned dealers and auction houses. Probably the most important find of the year was at this slightly hidden stall. An unknown, untouched, unheard of 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C Roadster bodied by Zagato. As far as we know, no early photo of this car has ever been published. Yet, the 'as found' state of the car leaves little room for made-up stories. Under thick layers of cracked paint the deep warm burgundy factory racing colour is to be seen. Also the little, very rare Z(Zorro) Zagato badge is there on the coachwork. We'll be hearing more about this car. Asking restoration authority Keith Bowley of Ashton Keynes about this find he said:'I would have to think long, very long, before daring to touch this car. The original leather, for instance, is intact, but merely sitting on it would destroy it.' (photo's by editor)
