Information on my steering wheel

Letter to the editor

Hi, I hope someone can help; I am looking for some information on my steering wheel that I purchased some years ago. At the time I was told it was a 1950’s Ferrari F1 steering wheel however I believe it is more likely to be from a C.M.N. (Costruzioni Meccaniche Nazionali) or early Alfa Romeo racing wheel. It has Enzo Ferrari Modena Italia stamped around the centre and a part number which I believe is 733 on the underside. I have spoken to Maranello Classic Parts Ferrari UK who have agreed it certainly looks pre-war and recommended yourselves to try and find more information. I find it hard to believe that if someone was going to make a counterfeit steering wheel they would stamp “ENZO FERRARI MODENA ITALIA” around the inside so it makes me think this could be from when Enzo Ferrari was driving for C.M.N. or Alfa Romeo. The diameter of the wheel is 42cm/16.5 inches. Any information you could give would be greatly received.

Many thanks, Jeremy Quinn

Hello Jeremy,

I think it is a fake. I can't imagine such irregular typing to be a genuine FERRARI steering wheel.
But i am not a specialist !

Best regards.
