Ticket to ride ( update: 'Mystery' Overland)

This picture was sent to us by Ced Pearce, who claims it sure is a Model T Ford, probably 1926 or 1927. Yet, he thinks the grille is wrong and asks for our opinion. Well, Ced, not only the grille, but we’re not sure about the front axle too. Perhaps our readers can shed some light on this. But first you’ll have to take your eyes of these pretty motorcycle cops writing a ticket. Are they for real? Probably not, which is a bad thing.

Willy's Overland- when others are put to rest, the W-O tracks onward like a train, having unsurpassed ground clearance.

Certainly agree that it is a Mystery Overland.
In answer to Craig Gillingham as to why it was so named - My dad, who owned one in the early 1930's, reckoned it was so named as it was a Mystery how it ever got over land

Sorry I missed Craig's earlier response: the Indian is obviously not completely invisible! Craig and I are both wrong with the model, but he is more correct than I. I agree it's probably a 1922 "Powerplus", but since the Chief was the new flagship model that year, Indian re-named the "Powerplus" the "Standard Model" (rather than the "Powerminus"?)

The invisible motorcycle, also from the mid 1920s, and also from the USA, is an Indian Chief.

It's a Willys Overland. The front suspension is triangulated with the front axle, hence the large sheet metal section just under the radiator. The suspension was moored to chassis extension and went diagonally backwards to each pivot on the front axle.

With its typical front splash apron and rear hinged frontdoors this looks like a 1925 Overland. Probably a model 91 4-cyl.

Overland. Commonly known in Australia as Mystery Overland. Note the front suspension spring layout.

This model T Ford has "demonstration" plates on it.. I cannot tell which state. Might be a Morton front brake conversion, along with the aftermarket radiator shell. I wish I could read the date on the plate, as this might be more like 1930 than late 20's. Are those 21" well base wheels and tyres?

The car is actually a Overland, they had a unique A frame spring hanger out the front of the chassis. In Australia they were known as a Mystery Overland, I've no idea why. The motorcycle is an Indian Powerplus, which I think is a 1922 model.

Overland mid 1920s, the front spring is anchored in the middle ahead of the radiator and spread horizontally in a wide U to 2 locations on the front axle, quite unusual.
