L’Avventura Transappenninica

Probably one of the best pre-war cars rallies is the Transappenninica held in Italy. Last week we already saw the twentieth anniversary of this fine event. The reason of its success can be found in the always amazing mix of Italian roads, good food, medieval cities, art and nature. Fifty pre-war cars from all over Europe gathered in Cesena, the hearth of Romagna, before the start of this fascinating tour across the North-Eastern part of Italy. Cities like Verona, Venice, Cortina d’Ampezzo and of course the great Alpine Passes and Lake Garda were the magic places to see and feel along the route. Sunday was the last day of the event on the streets around Imola and Rimini, where the finish was at the Grand Hotel. The cars! We forgot to mention the cars! Alfa Romeo, Bugatti, Bentley, Alvis, Ballot, Mercedes, Invicta and many other pre-war masterpieces were present. What a wonderful sight they were. We are already looking forward to next year!
