Labourdette's Best of Show.

This patinated side rearwindow has the looks of a psychedelic 1960's slide(Koolpages.com/Tiedyman Fractal Pages). In a way it gives clue to the mystery behind it. What the modern Alfa 156 learned from coachbuilder Labourdette is how to play tricks with a rearwindow to hide a reardoor. In our view the 'Best of Show' at Rétromobile is this seemingly dull 1930 Lorraine Dietrich with the looks of an average big convertible coupe. Which is not the case. It is not a convertible and it is not a two door Coupe. According to seller Bruno Vendiesse (tel: 0033-320-506372/fax: 0033-320-506025) the carrossier Labourdette called this a 'Brevée'. In other French words: a Faux Cabriolet/Faux Coupe, while it is neither a Cabriolet nor a Coupe. The reardoor(when closed) is extremely well hidden. Now look again when it is open. Applause for Labourdette !!! (photos editor)
