Derek Wilson -Ireland- has caught a Minerva fever since his grandfather restored the pictured 1909 car back in the fifties ...!
"...in the early part of this century in a little village about 35 miles from
Cork city you have a place called Buttervent, on the outskirts a Lord
Doneraile used to live, and his big house and grounds were known and still
are known as Doneraile Court. This Minerva was the service of this house for
its early life. But in the mid 50's my grandfather took up the opportunity to
buy this car. He and my father went to collect it, firstly it was a sad site as a shed had collapsed on top of it and most of this car was missing including
its 5 wheels. When they got the car home and discovered how rare these
wheels and other bits were, they decided to go back and search the land and
thankfully scattering around nearby woods (they) found most of these things
including its 5 wheels. Many years after the car was finished, they brought
it back to the grounds for a spin which I am sure they enjoyed, this wonderful
car has done trips like Cork to Dublin. It has done the Gorden Bennet rally and many-many more. Proof of the Minerva fever is the recent acquisition of a Minerva DD project. Like with his grandfather's car many parts need to be located for which he is seeking your help.
