Love is…: a small detail

You could argue that every Alfa Romeo 6C is special, but it must be true that some are more special than others. Take for instance his 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport Spider with a body by Zagato. When we saw it we immediately fell in live with it, head over heels! And why? Just because of a very tiny detail. Take a look at the steering wheel, there's a small badge attached to one of the spokes. An emblem that shows the 'Madonna of Loreto' which could very well be a subtle reference to Ugo Zagato's old nickname of "el gagà de Loret" ("the dandy from Loreto") from the days when, as a young man, he lived near the Piazzale Loreto in Milan and dressed in the latest of fashions. Zagato's attention to detail was legendary and his painstaking approach was highly appreciated by the top drivers of the day, as proven by this Alfa that was driven by Luigi Scarfiotti for the Scuderia Ferrari. The 6C 1750 will be offered by Bonhams at their "Les Grandes Marques à Monaco" auction on Friday May 11th.
