Macks Bathing Beauties (W. Overland?)

•

In the early to late teens of the previous century producer Mack Sennett became well known for his Keystone Kops slapsticks (YouTube) and other comedies. Hilarious chases and cake-throwing were a main part of those silent movies, but often they also featured a bevy of "bathing beauties" seen here trying to hide a car (Car? What car?). The girl in the harlequin costume is Marvel Rea, whose sad life was detailed on Shorpy some time ago (scroll down for many more photos).

(with thanks to Shorpy)
