Meet Herman Brunn

We invited Bob Lighty to tell about a recent acquisition of Motorcar Portfolio, a 1936 Lincoln V-12 with a one off Brunn coachwork (USA): "Herman Brunn was the president of Brunn body / coachbuilders in the US. As you know many car companies such as Cadillac, Lincoln, Duesenberg, and Packard offered coach built cars from custom body builders beyond their own standard bodies. The idea of a collapsable touring sedan was one Herman Brunn developed. The skylight tinted glass over the windshield was due to the fact that Mr. Brunn was very tall and wanted the extra visiblity. The 1936 Lincoln we are offering was a prototype, and the body was used on Lincoln and Packard cars for a couple years after. Mr. Brunn was never happy with the colored tint of the skylight glass provided by the glass manufacturer after. The Canton Classic Car Museum nearby, has a 1922 Packard Cap Victoria bodied car by Brunn (City of Canton; Gallery 5) that is extremely unique. The car has a carriage like body with no rear doors and is currently on loan to the National Packard Museum in nearby Warren, Ohio, USA."
