Mondays are for cyclecars (UPDATE III: Colombe taken by Villard)

The past few weeks we have received a flood of cyclecars which we were asked to identify. This one comes from Geert De Brabandere from Belgium, who found this Villard. These were produced in France from 1925 until 1935, but Geert doesn’t know from which year his one dates. He suspects it is one of the early models, a Type 29A, as it has chassis number 8023, and a two-stroke engine of around 345cc. Also that it was made in the Rue Alphonse-Penaud in Paris. Geert would like to know if there are any images of this model and can someone help him with spare parts? Please tell us!

Update III by Fons Alkemade who estimates that there must be around eight Villards left in the world. “The first model, from 1925-1927, was type 24. Chassisnumbers before 1925 started with 25’’ After 1927 it was called the ‘27’ and from 1929 it was the ‘29’ (probably the year of introduction).”
UPDATE II by G.C.M. Stol: "When Colombe ceased production it was taken over by M.Villard in Janville, Eure et Loire and had a Harissard 346cc two stroke engine. In 1931 there was a 500cc Chaise V4 engine and the latest models had a 350cc Chaise engine. Most Villards were sold as delivery vans rather than private cars. An image of a 1931 model can be found in The new Encyclopedia of motorcars by G.N. Georgano from Duttons."
UPDATE I by Luc Rijckaert: "I found a picture of a Racing version of the threewheeler that Geert found. It is a French-built Colombe, also with chain drive to the front wheel that has similar items (wheels) to the Vilard on this picture. This racer was used in 1924 at Arpajon, to beat some 350 cc records. Could it be that the Villard was based on the Colombe?"
