Mudd on the streets.

John Apen - board member of the Gold Book (ManheimGold.com) sent us this photo of the spectacular 1931 Duesenberg J212 the Mudd Coupe (named after its original owner Seeley J. Mudd) which he spotted the day before the recent Meadow Brooks Concours outside the mansion. Always striking to see how much better these cars look when photographed on the street than when exposed on the Concours grass. Like a tent needs grass underneath, an automobile needs stone, gravel or tarmac. About the Duesenberg dominated event John added: "A spectacular deep blue 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabriolet owned by the Patterson Collection of Louisville, Kentucky drove away with the Founders Award for Best in Show at the 25th Anniversary Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 3. Going with "The Way It Was" Most Original Car Award: the 1936 Voisin C28 Aerosport Aero Coupe, owned by Arturo and Deborah Keller of Pataluma, California." (photo by John Apen / According to SportsCar Market Keith Martin this Duesy was auctioned by RM Auctions at $ 1,3 million in 2000).
