Corinna Illia (Germany) wrote us: "My husband bought some days ago this Cottereau. Meanwhile it runs with it’s one cylinder quite fast! I was researching about the company. It was located in Dijon and closed in 1910. You can find a lot about Cottereau, but unfortunately very little about this company and it’s cars. In the museum in Turin in Italy there seems to be a similar car. What I want to verify in the first step is the age of the car by it’s chassis number (click). Is there any information you can give?"

UPDATE V by Raul Valkila:"According to strong rumours a 1905/1906 Cottereau car is located in Finland." Another one is located in Italy .
UPDATE IV by Bruno Estibals: "A friend of mine who is living in Toulouse (France) owns for 30 years a Cottereau 1898. This car has a 2
cylinder engine (V-Twin)."
UPDATE III by Mark Dawber:"have you noticed that the one cylinder Cottereau engine has its valves 'fore and aft' whereas the three cylinder engine has them on each side as one would normally expect? I presume the single has a fore and aft crankshaft - or maybe the engine is mounted sideways in the frame with chain drive to the gearbox and another from there to the rear axle (as found on very early Wolseleys)?"
