My Royce is my castle. ( Update: SOLD )

SOLD : Sir Henry Royce's 'Villa Mimosa'.

As you can imagine we receive the most diverse e-mails. Finds, mysteries, questions and more. One of those recently coming in is Sir Royce's 1911 house being for sale at the Côte d'Azur (VoyageSilena.co.uk). Now not every RR-adept will have the spare Euro 2,000,000. Still there must a few out there, who have the means not only to dream. But also will start calculating. And will start asking questions. "OK, fine this history, but how has the seaside view developed over the years???" Now Mr. Olivier, manager of Corniche Properties will start to smile: "The view has changed as fast as the famous radiator...check for yourself!"(clic) The villa commissioned by Rolls-Royce in 1911, changed hands only twice. The second owner being Henry Royce since 1918. The third a family who bought the house after the death of Sir Henry in 1938. The villa is still in almost perfect original condition, but will need cosmetic attention. A disadvantage for any other villa is an arrogant statement and fine detail at the same time: the 7 bedroom house (clic) can offer 'lodging' to only 1 (one) car..... Who needs more, when Henry didn't? Andre Blaize (The Ghost Club International) was kind enough to ID a vintage photo showing Henry Royce getting out of a Company Car (clic): "The car is an Experimental 1925 New Phantom, chassis 7EX, reg'd CH5412. The photo was taken at Le Canadel, where Royce had a villa and spent the winter months with a reduced staff of engineers. The body is an all-weather cabriolet by Barker. It was later scrapped and replaced with a hearse body. It has not survived to this day, but the rolling chassis still existed in the 1950's." (photos courtesy Corniche Properties Ltd. NO NEED to contact this firm as this feature is from 2004 and the villa is sold since long now)
