Pete Giles: "I left my phone number on the garage wall the car was in, for the owner to ring me when he wanted to sell it. I waited 22 years for the call. It is a true special, built just before the war using a 1922 Talbot Darracg DS chassis and radiator, the back axle is Ford Model A, the front axle is 1929 Sunbeam, the engine when raced in the 50's in Ireland was an Alvis silver Eagle 6 cylinder, this was damaged and not replaced so it has a 2.4 Jaguar engine at the moment. I have a 1929 6 Cylinder Flat Head Nash engine to fit in but its not a pretty engine so I am looking for something else. The gearbox and the steering column is as yet unknown (check). It is now in my garage in France and with luck should be on the road in the summer."
UPDATE: steering and gearbox unidentified(check above link)
editorial note: when you need a part very badly or can't fnd the car of your dreams instantly, you better start with a drop of patience. There's nothing against waiting a few months or years for the holy grail. When you finally find what you have been chasing, the taste will be so much sweeter.
